The bookWhy Bridgerton

Julia Quinn's Bridgerton novels, beginning with The Duke and I, follow the eight Bridgerton siblings through the Regency London marriage season. The anonymous gossip Lady Whistledown narrates much of it in her society papers.

A world of ballrooms, scandal and very good cake was the obvious way to open the shelf. The living room went powder blue, wisteria came down the curtains, five vases of lilies were cast as Queen Charlotte, Mrs. Mondrich and three ladies-in-waiting, and every guest found their name on a beribboned card.

At the tableHow the afternoon went

  • Lady Whistledown's Society Papers fanned across the table, next to handwritten floral name tags on blue ribbon.
  • Queen Charlotte and her ladies-in-waiting, played by lilies and roses in cobalt bud vases.
  • A silver masquerade mask on the curtains. Naturally.
